Russian Tenor Sergei Gaidey, one of the leading artists with Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and won a number of competitions throughout the country including prize “Hope” at the XVIth international Glinka competition in 1995, 1st place at the Ist international competition named after Zimin in 1997 and was a finalist of the 1st television competition “The Grand Prize of Moscow” sponsored by Irina Arhipova in 1998. While still a student at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, in 1995 he joined the Bolshoi Theatre where he sang and continues to sing such roles as: Rodolfo in La Bohème, Calaf in Turandot (first night in September 2002), Alfredo in La Traviata, Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Vademon in Iolanta, the Fool in Boris Godunov, Lykov in The Tsar’s Bride, Sobinin Ivan Susanin, Zvezdochet in The Golden Cockerel, Mozart in Mozart and Salieri, young gypsy in Aleko, Prince in The Love of Three Oranges, Bayan and Finn in Ruslan and Lyudmila, Tsar Berendei in The Snow Maiden. The artist's repertoire also includes He appeared as a guest artist in Lille, France with Lensky (Eugene Onegin) in 1997 and in “Lisseo” theater in Barcelona, Spain in 1998, where he also performed Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in 1999-2000. His most recent engagements include Prince (The Love of Three Oranges) with the Bolshoi Theatre in London Coliseum in 1999 and Zvezdochet (The Golden Cockerel) in Trieste, Italy in 2000. Last season's highlights include Prince (The Love of Three Oranges) with the Bolshoi Theatre in Hong Kong and Zvezdochet (The Golden Cockerel) in Rome.
